Entry 10

Here are some scene outlines I have done:

The group has also decided to use 2 sources from the stimulus sheets. One qoute: You many say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one, I hope someday you will join us, and the world will live as one. This is because the monsters are trying to make the girl stay in her nightmare.
And a picture:
This picture is chosen because it looks magical and dream like, and everything is revolving around that girl. Like it is her world.

Entry 9

I have been thinking a lot about the fact that the audience may or may not know what is happening and could get completely lost, so I contributed the idea that the 'monsters' should have a scene at the start 'planning' what they are going to do to this little girl so the audience is prepared. They dismissed this idea because they think that the monsters shouldn't be alive till I go asleep, which I now agree with.

We have also decided that although the characters are 'bad' it is going to be a gradual step to becoming these evil characters. This means that going from world to world would become scarier and scarier.

Entry 8

In the week leading up to our performance we have been walking and running through our play and trying to organise everything. Through means of communicating we have set up a private Facebook page for our group so we can communicate and work together. Here are some examples:

We have also have used emails, however i have no proof of these.

For the lights and music, i have been left responsibility with the music because it was my idea for the different sound effects and the type of music.

The group has also been discussing costumes and I decided that i would let them work out their own costumes because they are all the same character while i am not, so I am decided that i would wear long pyjamas because that symbolises that I am asleep.

Entry 7

Drama today consisted of improving our play with Mrs Burleys ideas. We ran through our play and began to alter bits and pieces. I suggested to the group that we would have the play slowly progress from happy to scary. We put this into the play by having a sweet (but secretly evil) grandma at the start telling me to go to the door. We would then have Bronte, the artistic girl blowing bubbles, appear happy but has a harsh and mean voice. I would the move on to Ariana and she would be a completely scary monster. Through all of this Brittanee would be following me creeping me out. During the next few lessons after this we began the detail. I again suggested that we should have the characters on the veranda at the start discussing what they are going to do and who they are, oblivious of the audience, so the audience has a slight idea of what is to come. Someone also decided that some of the characters would start under then bed and some in the curtains. We have also centred all of the mini-plays around the floor space.

Entry 6

For todays drama lesson we showed our performance to Mrs Burley for feedback. After preforming and receiving the feedback we decided that we would make the following changes:

Making clear instructions to where the audience is standing.
Go through the door, indicating entering the dream.
Change the clown scene to being split up around the room.

Entry 5

Today's drama lesson was very productive. We began to work with the whole room and roughly running through the scenes. The group now has good idea of what they are individually doing, so we can work on the detail of things. The implications we faced in this lesson was that the room availability is a bare minimum. It is hard to experience and practice what it would be like on the actual day do not have the resources and space, therefore we decided on after school and lunch sessions.

Entry 4

In todays lesson Britt and Bronte were away so Ariana, Amy and I made a draft stage directions. Whilst making this we realised that we would not incorporate as much planned talking as we would in a normal production. We also discovered mistakes in our previous ideas.

Drama Performance

Group: Amy, Shaina, Ariana, Britt, Bronte

Stage Directions and Order of Performance

not all of this is correct, but its just a draft

Audience begins in the courtyard

Britt is outside dressed in a scary costume

Britt: everybody must come inside, through this door!

She leads them through the door and the tunnel into the theatre. The audience sit in a U or L shape. With a space left towards the back near the stair case. The last door on the left, is kept open for the bed

The lights are on, normal and nice. Shaina is lying on the bed reading a book.

As the audience settles down, Shaina closes her book and goes to bed. As she falls asleep, she begins snoring loudly.

The lights go out, and smoke begins to come out. The creatures come out from the stage, hissing, and being scary. They take shaina away (up towards the back stairs)

Shaina goes upstairs, whilst the creatures run back through the audience, and go off and get dressed.

The curtain will be closed prior. Shaina runs back through the audience telling them they have to get out. Saying the following.

Shaina: You must get out, please help me get out! (something along those lines)

She comes back onto the stage, stands in the spotlight on the stage right, and says that she has to find her way out, and that she goes through the curtain.

As she enters through the curtain. It is pulled back, to reveal a full stage.

Ariana, Amy, Bronte and Britt will be doing their circus bits. Everyone stops and shaina says.

Shaina: Excuse me, who are you.

Amy: You tell us

Everyone else whispers

Everyone: We can be whoever you want us to be.

Shaina: Can you take me back

Ariana: Shes talking about the door.

everyone whispers “the door, the door”

Amy: We will take you to the door, come on.

Amy begins taking shaina over to the side, and Ariana is creeping up behind her, examining her. However when she turns around, she is all nice and friendly.

As they go towards the side of the stage they say:

Shaina: Who are you really?

Amy: You tell us.

Bronte: We told you! We can take you to the door.

Britt: Were whoever you want us to be.

Getting all confused and not believing what everyone is saying.

Shaina: Your lying.

Ariana: Where the only ones who know where the door is anyway.

Bronte: Yeah! How are you going to figure it out, without our help.

Britt: You have to trust us.

Shaina still getting confused, and starting to catch on.

Shaina: I dont trust you!

Tries to run away, and is confused.

Ariana: You have no choice!

Shaina: I dreamt this, this is my world!

Now tries to convince the audience that Shaina is the wrong one.

Bronte: This girl is insane, she has no idea what she is talking about.

Britt: We have taken thousands of girls to the door

Ariana: I could recognize everyone of them! This has happen, countless times, and every girl is the same. Arrogant! and Rude!

Bronte: Come on you can trust us! let us take you to the door.

She tries to escape and run away

Ariana: Who’s World is it now.

On the video it goes “Will work out the script later” so im confused on this part so ill just add it, as its only a draft :)

Amy and Ariana lead her off the stage. The lights blackout.

Shaina comes out, all scared and finally sees the door, she is in a new world.

As she approaches the door, it goes booom! Everyone comes out, and grabs her and stops her from getting to the door. Its all scary, and finally the the lights go out and the door is no longer there.

At the end someone comes out and does the quote/song.

Entry 3

Once we decided on the theme, we went through the things that we needed for the performance and the characters we were going to be. I was voted in to be the 'girl' (the girl whos dream they are caught in). We also got on our feet and planned a few things like settings and entry and exits. I contributed the rough plans of the stage setting from scene 1-3.

Stuff we need to organize

Entry 2

In todays discussion we decided that the concept would be that the audience is stuck in a girls dream. Continuing from last session’s discussion we were deciding how to go about this. I contributed an idea at the start that there would be a girl in a bed and the characters appear trying to get the bed then she would wake up and see the audience. All the ideas went from there.

Section 1- the girl is in her bed than she begins to have a nightmare and the characters appear

Section 2- meets clowns and they try to convince her that they are good but they end up tricking her and taking her into a worst stage, they rip their costumes off.

Section 3- the clowns are now bad and she is in her worst nightmare and there are other characters and she tries to escape through the ‘wake up’ door but the characters in the nightmare capture here and turn her into them.

Entry 1

Today was our first lesson and it went really productively with great ideas. When I first received it I was first confused but as soon as it clicked in my head I, along with the group, automatically had a rush of ideas coming to my head. I like the idea that we don’t have to follow a script or stick to any ‘traditional’ drama rules. There was lots of idea but we elaborated on my idea to make the audience think that it was there dream. We came up with some really crazy, fun ideas that work around using the audience. I had a personal idea to have nightmare sections on the big projector and then to dress up the same as those characters and pop out of the curtains. This would create the effect of a nightmare and may scare some of the audience. By the end of our short discussions we joined some of our main ideas that we would work towards focusing with the audiences nightmares and messing with there minds, having actors in the audience and spooky effects.
